Always listen and let the Parent have their say – never try to argue. Try to explain what may or may not have happened and any reasons or additional circumstances that may be relevant. If you do not know about the incident reassure the parent that you will investigate and get back to them the next day. Never involve or blame other children. Listen to everything the parents are saying. Avoid overwhelming them with irrelevant materials or by using jargon. Try not to overwhelm them with the presence of other school.
